Dichotomus Key uses a series of paired statements to identify an organism
Speciation formation of a new species
Reproductive Isolation Behavioral, Geographic, and Temporal
Phylogeny the evolutionary history of lineage
Current Evolution occurs, unsure of how it works
What do similar species have in common? Similar habitats around the world
What was unusual about fossils of extinct organisms? They were similar to many living organisms
Fossil The preserved remains of an organism
Natural Selection The process by which individuals that are better adapted to their environment are more likely to survive
Mold A fossil formed when an organism buried in sediment dissolves, leaving a hollow area
Cast Copy of the shape of an organism that made the mold
Fossil Record The entire set of fossils that scientist have ever found
Gradualism The theory that evolution occurs slowly but steadily
Relative Dating Method of dating in which one organism is determined to be older than the other. It is based on the layers of rock in which the organisms are found
