Oceanic Landforms

Landforms of the ocean floor

QuestionAnswer
Continental Shelf The part of the continent located under the water.
Continental Slope The area where the continental shelf drops to the bottom of the ocean floor.
Mid-ocean Ridge A mountain ridge on the bottom of the ocean that divides the ocean floor into two parts.
Rift Zone The center of the highest part of the mid-ocean ridge that is a narrow trench.
Trench The deepest part of the ocean that are deeper than any valley found on land.
Ocean Basin Located on either side of the mid-ocean ridge.
