Before and During Surgery Questions

QuestionAnswer
What is reconstructive surgery? To restore appearance or function
What is curative surgery? Surgery that CURES a problem
What is diagnostic surgery? To provide data ( Ex: biopsy of a mass)
What is a minor case surgery? Limited evasion, less risks, less anesthesia time (Ex: ENT, plastic surgery)
What is prophylactic surgery? Surgery to PREVENT a problem
What is urgent surgery? Surgery that should be done in 24-36 hrs but is not life threatening ( EX:kidney stone removal)
What is emergency surgery? Surgery that should be done IMMEDIATELY
