What are the steps in the Scientific Method? Problem; Research; Hypothesis; Collect Data; Analyze Data; Conclude
Define Scientific Method. is the "tool" that scientists use to find the answers to questions. It's a process of thinking through the possible solutions to a problem and testing each possibility to find the best solution.
What is a controled experiment? has several different components
Define Constants. the part of an experiment that serves as a standard to which variables are compared
How would an Hypothesis be stated? By asking a question about your experiment.
What is an experimmental design? Describes the steps that must be taken to conduct the test.
How wouls you make an inferance on a scientific problem? You would observe hte experiment and make an assumption based on what you see.
What are models in a scientific investigation? A comprehensive scientific explanation for an observation.
What is a dependent variable? the variable you expect to change after you do the experiment
Indepndent Variable is... the one variable you change in the experiment
State an hypothesis for an experiment using a dog an a bird. When the dog sees the bird I think the dog will bark or chase the bird.
What is Data in an experiment? information collected from observation and experiment
What are bar graphs used for? counting and to show how a number of objects or events compare in relationship to a single property.
What are line graphs used for? show a relationship between two measured quantities, usually as a trend over time.
What are circle graphs used for? show how a whole is divided into parts (or percentages of a whole).
What is the manipulated variable? The variable that is purposely changed to test a hypothesis
Independent Variable is... antoher name for mainipulated variable
What is a thermometer? a tool used to measure temperature
What is a test tube used for? It is used for pouring chemicals or liquids into for a experiment.
What is a microscope? a tool used to produce magnified images of small objects
What is a graduated cylinder? a beaker marked in intervals that is used to measure volume
What are controled variables also known as? Constants
What are graphs used for? Presenting information more visually.
When designing an experiment what is the first thing you should think of? Your hypothesis
What is the last thing you do in the Scentific Method? State your conclusion.
