Lab Safety

After an experiment has been completed, it is important to dispose of materials properly.
Generally, the trash can is used for the disposal of dry, harmless materials
You should not place what into the trash can unless specifically instructed to do so by your lab instructor. chemicals or biological materials
The sink is usually used for the disposal of water
After a liquid chemical is used in an experiment, it should be placed in its appropriate labeled waste bottle
After biological substances (such as bacteria) are used in an experiment, they should be sealed and placed in a biohazard container.
Only bring necessary What ? materials
Read the entire lab procedure before you begin an experiment.
Only perform the assigned experiment when the teacher has given you permission to do so, and when the teacher is supervising.
Always wear closed-toe shoes, safety goggles, a protective lab apron or lab coat, and protective gloves when working in the lab.
What materials can melt onto your skin if they catch fire. Synthetic
Tie back what ? long hair
roll up what ? loose sleeves.
Never eat, drink, or apply makeup in the lab.
Do not touch your face or eyes while conducting an experiment.
If you have to cut something, cut in a direction that is away from your body.
Never taste any chemicals in the lab

Do not directly inhale any gas
Always pour an acid or base into water, not vice-versa
Report any chemical spill to your teacher
If possible, wear clothes made of cotton. Synthetic materials can melt onto your skin if they catch fire.
•Do not touch your face or eyes while conducting an experiment
If a chemical gets in your eye(s), go to an eyewash station and flush your eyes with water for at least 15 minutes
•Avoid contaminating stock solutions; never return unused chemicals to their original container.
