what s the difference between dominant allele and a recessive allele? | a dominant allele is something that shows up in the phenotype as the main thing and the recessive is the one that doesn't show. dominant is the upper case letter and the recessive is the lower case letter. |
what is the difference between phenotype and genotype | the phenotype is the organism's physical appearence and the genotype is the entire genetic makeup. |
how do you make a punnent square? | you first make a box with 4 different divisions the you take the traits from the two parents and put one on the top outside and the other parents traits on the left side then cross the two letters. |
what is probability? how does it work for a coin toss? | the likelihood that a possible future event will occur in any given instance of the event. it works for a coin toss because heads is one thing and tails is the other so there is a 50 50 chance that you will flip heads instead of tails. |
what was the accepted theory of inheritance before mendel? | the theory before mendel was that there was a blending of inheritance of the parents to the offspring |

what is dna? what parts make up DNA? | dna is genetic material that is passed from child to parent. |
what makes up a nucleotide? | a nucleotide is made up of sugar phosphate and a base |
what are the four bases in DNA? | adenine(a), thymine(t), guanine(g), and cytosine(C) |
what are the complementary bases in DNA? | the complementary bases are adenine(a) to thymine(t) and guanine(G) to cytosine(c) |
how does DNA replicate? | the pairing of the bases or making copies of DNA |
what did Erwin Chargaff discover? | the adenine amount equals to the amount of thymine and that guanine amount equals to the amount of cytosine |
what did watson and crick's model look like? | it looked like the double helix that the DN has |
