Chapter 6 Vocab

QuestionAnswer
A large section of earths upper mantal that moves around on the asthenosphere.
Rocks break and move along surfaces.
The virbrations produced by the breaking of rocks.
Rock above the fault surface moves downwards in relation to rock below the rock surface.
Rocks brake from forcews pushing from opposite directions.
Rock on either side of the fault are moving past each other without moving uppwards or downward movement.
Rythmic movement the carries energy through matter and space.
Generated by an earthquake, they travel through earth.
The point where this energy release first occurs.
Cause particles in rocks to move back and forth in the same directions that travel in waves.
