What is the base unit and symbol for length in the Metric System? Meter (M)
What does mass measure? Amount of matter something is made of
What is the base unit and symbol for mass in the Metric System? Gram (g)
What does volume measure? Amount of space a object occupies
What is the base unit and symbol for volume in the Metric System? Liter (l)
What does temperature measure? How hot or cold something is
What is the base unit and symbol for temperature in the Metric System? Celsious (c)

How should you prepare for a lab? Read all the instructions before

Why is it important to know where the lab safety equipment is? To know what to do and where to go when an accident happens
What procedure should you follow if there is broken glassware in the lab? Tell your teacher
Why should you never touch, taste or smell a chemical unless your teacher instructs you to do so? Chemicals could be harmful
When should you begin a lab activity? After reading instructions,then when your teacher tells you to begin
How should you dispose of waste/hazardous materials in a lab? 1st ask your teach to dispose of them
How should you keep your lab area? NEAT NOT MESSY
When should you take materials out of a lab/science classroom? Never
How should you cut an object during a lab? Hold it on a flat surface/hard surface and cut downwards and away from you
How should you handle heated containers in a lab? With caution
Where should you remain during a lab? In you work station/seat unless instructed otherwise
What should you do after a lab? Clean up your station,wash your hands,turn of and unplug all equipement
What is a variable? Factorss that change in an experiment
What is the difference between an independent (manipulated) and dependent (responding) variable? Independent-variable is purposly changed,dependent-the factor that is measured in response to the independent variable
What is a control experiment? An experiment which only 1 variable is manipuated (changed)
What is the difference between a controlled group and an experimental group in a controlled experiment? Controll gorup-a group that remains the same throughout the experiment that is used as a standard in comparing,Experimental group-is the group that respond to the independent variable
