QuestionAnswer
Botox Inhibits exocytosis of ACh. @NMJ: frown lines, migraine prophylaxis, cervical dystonia, strabismus, blepharospasm, spasticity. @parasympathetic NEJ: spasm of lower esophageal sphincters. @parasympathetic NEJ: hyperhydrosis
D-tubocurarine Block ACh receptor at NMJ for skeletal muscle paralysis
Succinylcholine Act as an agonist to create depolarization blockade --> SKM paralysis
Bethanechol mAChE agonist
Pilocarpine mACh receptors agonist
Atropine mAChR antagonist
Scopolamine mACh antagonist
Oxybutynin (Ditrophan) mAChR antagonist
Tolterodine mAChR antagonist
Ipratropium mACh antagonist
Donepezil Non-covalently bond with the ACh receptor and block its binding site
Physostigmines Carbamyolate with the ACh receptor and block the activity of the enzyme
Echothiophate Phosphorylate the active site and permanently inhibits its activity
Malathion Phosphorylate the active site and permanently inhibits its activity
Pralidoxime Nucleophilic attack the phosphorylated site of AChE and restores its function
alpha-methyltyrosine Inhibits tyrosine hydroxylase
alpha-methyldopa Prodrug: pretend it's dopa, converted to alpha-methylNE and replaces some of the NE in the synapse
Reserpine Block VMAT-2, leading to depletion of NE stored in the synapse vescicles
Amphetamine Taken into adrenergic nerves terminals by NET and into the synapse vesicles by VMAT-2, displacing NE. NE is then escape into junctional space
Ephedrine Taken into adrenergic nerves by NET and into the synapse vesicles by VMAT-2 to replace NE
Norephedrine Stimulate alpha 1,2 and beta 1
Epi stimulate alpha 1,2 and beta 1,2
Phenylephedrine alpha 1 receptor agonist
Clonidine alpha 2 agonist, which is on the neural terminal. Binding onto this alpha 2 receptor will release more NE.
Phentolamine alpha receptors blocker
Prazosin Alpha 1 blocker
Tamsulosin Alpha 1 blocker
Isoproterenol Beta agonist
Dobutamine Beta 1 agonist
Albuterol Beta 2 agonist
Propanolol Beta blocker
Metoprolol Beta 1 blocker
Atenolol Beta 1 blocker

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
