Tietjen Microscope

| Diaphragm | The circular disk that adjusts the amount of light entering the stage area. |
| Stage | The platform that supports the slide and allows light to pass through it. |
| Stage Clips | Hold the slide in place on the stage. |

| High Power Objective | Longest of the 3 lenses and has the highest magnification. |
| Medium Power Objective | Middle of the 3 lenses and has the medium amount of magnification. |
| Lowest Power Objective | Shortest of the 3 lenses, it has the lowest amount of magnification. |
| Body Tube | Gives the distance needed between the eye piece and the objective lens. |
| Fine Adjustment Knob | Moves the tube up and down, but only slightly. |
| Coarse Adjustment Knob | Moves the tube up and down to focus. |
| Arm | Supports the body tube. |
| Base | Holds up the entire microscope. |
| Mirror | Reflects light into the tube. |
| Nose Piece | Holds the objective lenses. |
