cell structure tay2

QuestionAnswer
cell membrane the cells are surronded by a thin barrier
cell wall many cells also produce a strong supporting layer around membrane
lipid bilayer the composition of nearly all cell membranes is a double layered gives cell membranes a flexibe ctructure that forms a strong barrier between cell and its surrondings
concentration of a solution is the mass of soulte in a given volume of solution, mass/volume,
diffusion the particels that tend to move from an area where they are more concentrated to an area where they are less concentrated
equilibrium when ther concetration of the soulte is the same throughout a system
osmosis is the diffusion of water through a selectivley premeable membrane
isotonic when the concentration will be the same on both sides of the membrane
hypertonic above strenght
hypotonic below strenght
facilitated diffusion during facilitated diffusion molecules, such as glucose, that cannot diffue across the cell membranes lipid bilayer on their own move through portein channels instead
active transport the active transport of small molecules or ions across a cell membrane is generally carried out by transport porteins that are found in the membrane itself
endocytosis `is the process of taking material into the cell by means of infoldings of the cell membrane
phagocytosis extensions of cytoplasms surronded a particle and package it within a food vacuole
pincyotosis extensions of cytoplasms surrond a paricule and package it within a food vacuole
exocytosis the membrane of the vacuole surronding the material fuses with the cell membrane
cell specialization cell throughout an organism can devlop in diffrent ways to perform diffrent tasks
tissue a group of similar cells that prouduce a paticular function
organ many groups of tissues work together as an organ
organ system a group of organs that work toghter to perform a specific function

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
