Parts of a plant, Animal food chain & Methods of measuring animal populations

What is the pyramid of biomass? The distribution of mass within a food chain?
What things do animas compete for? Food, water and space
What is a quadrat? A quadrat is a 1m x 1m wooden frame designed to measure the total number of organisms within a certain habitat
What is a pooter? A pooter is a device used to suck small animals from their habitats.
What is the function of a pitfall trap? A pitfall trap is designed to trap small insects and prevent their escape
What is the function of a net? To capture aerobic and aquariatic animals.
What is the xylem? The xylem are veins in the leaf which enable the transportation of water around the plant.
What is transpiration? Transpiration is the evaporation of water from the leaf
What is the phloem? The phloem are tubes where glucose is carried away from the leaves.
How are root hairs adapted to their function (1) They have a large surface area to maximise water absorption. (2) They are long and thin to allow water to pass through easily.
