Why do scientists call the protist kingdom the "junk drawer kingdom?" the organisms are similar to the other kingdoms, but they don't have all the needed characteristics to fit in that kingdom so scientists just lump them all togheter in the protist kingdom
What are the little hairs that surround some protists? cilia
long whip like tail on some protists flagella
blob of cytoplasm that pushes out from some protists and helps them move pseudopod
Why aren't animal-like protists classified in the animal kingdom? Animal like protists are unicellular and animal are multicellular.
Why aren't algae considered plants? They don't have real roots or leaves.
Are all protists eukaryotes or prokaryotes? eukaryotes
Where do protists like to live? wet and moist areas
Are protists usually unicellular or multicelullar? unicellular
Algal blooms occur when too much algae grows in a lake or ocean
Are all algal blooms toxic to water creatures and humans? no
Can some algal blooms kill water creatures and make humans sick? yes
What are two human causes of algal blooms? water pollution and fertilizer from farms
