DSM Psychotic Disorders

Episodic with Interepisode Residual Symptoms Course is characterized by episodes in which Criterion A for Schizophrenia is met and there are clinically significant residual symptoms between episodes
With Prominent Negative Symptoms Can be added to episodic specifiers if prominent negative symptoms are present during residual periods
Episodic with No Interepisode Residual Symptoms Applies when the course is characterized by episodes in which Criterion A for Schizophrenia is met and there are no clinically significant residual symptoms between episodes
Continuous Applies when characteristic symptoms of Criterion A are met throughout all (or most) of the course.
Single Episode in Partial Remission Applies when there has been a single episode in which Criterion A for Schizophrenia is met and some clinically significant residual symptoms remain.
Single Episode In Full Remission Applies when there has been a single episode in which Creterion A for Schizophrena has been met and no clinically significant residual symptoms remain.
Other or Unspecified Pattern Another or an unspecified course patter ahs been present.
Two or more of the following are present for a significant portion of time during a 1-month period (only 1 if d or h): delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech, grossly disorganized or catatonic behavior, negative symptoms Schizophrenia
Social/Occupational Dysfunction: since the onset of disturbance on or more major areas of functioning are below the level achieved prior to the onset Schizophrenia
Duration: Continuous signs of the disturbance for at least 6 months, with at least 1 month of active symptoms that meet Criterion A. During non-active (prodromal or residual) phases, negative symptoms may predominate. Schizophrenia
Schizoaffective and Mood Disorder exclusion: 1)no MDE, ME, or MxE have occurred concurrently with active-phase symptoms or 2) if present are brief relative to the duration of the active and residual periods. Schizophrenia
Substance/GMC: not due to the effects of substance or GMC Schizophrenia
Relationship to a Pervasive DD: If history of autistic or other PDD, diagnosis is made only if prominent delusions or hallucinations are also present for at least a month. Schizophrenia
Paranoid Type Preoccupation with one or more delusions or frequent auditory hallucinations, None of the following are prominent: disorganized speech, disorganized or catatonic behavior, or flat or inappropriate affect.
Disorganized Type Prominent disorganized speech, disorganized behavior, and flat or inappropriate affect; criteria are not met for Catatonic Type
Catatonic Type Motoric immobility or stupor, excessive motor activity, extreme negativism or mutism, peculiarities of voluntary movement such as posturing, stereotyped movements, prominent mannerisms, or prominent grimacing; echolalia or echopraxia
Undifferentiated Type Symptoms for Criterion A are met but criteria are not met for Paranoid, Disorganized, or Catatonic Subtypes
Residual Type Absence of prominent delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech, and grossly disorganized or catatonic behavior; continuing evidence of the disturbance as indicated by negative symptoms or two or more symptoms in attenuated form
A. Criteria A, D, and E of Schizophrenia are met. Schizophreniform Disorder
B. An episode of the disorder lasts at least 1 month but less than 6 months Schizophreniform Disorder
2+: Onset of psychotic symptoms w/in 4 weeks of first noticeable change in usual behavior or functioning; confusion or perplexity at the height of psychotic episode; good premorbid social and occupational functioning; absence of blunted or flat affect. Schizophreniform Disorder, With Good Prognostic Features, otherwise specify Without Good Prognostic Features
A. An uninterrupted period of illnes during which, at some time, there is either a MDE, ME, or MxE concurrent with symptoms that meet Criteria A for schizophrenia Schizoaffective Disorder
B. During the same period of illness, there have been delusions or hallucinations for at least 2 weeks in the absence of prominent mood symptoms Schizoaffective Disorder
C. Symptoms that meed criteria for a mood episode are present for a substantial portion of the total duration of the active and residual periods of the illness Schizoaffective Disorder
D. The disturbance is not due to the direct physiological effects of a substance or GMC Schizoaffective Disorder
Disturbance includes a ME or MxE (may or may not also include MDE) Schizoaffective Disorder, Bipolar Type
Disturbance only includes MDE Schizoaffective Disorder, Depressive Type
A. Nonbizarre delusions of at least 1 months duration Delusional Disorder
B. Criterion A for Schizophrenia has never been met. Tactile and olfactory hallucinations must be related to the delusional theme. Delusional Disorder
C. Apart from the impact of the delusions or its ramifications, functioning is not markedly impaired and behavior is not obviously odd or bizarre. Delusional Disorder
D. If mood episodes have occurred concurrently with delusions, their total duration has been brief rlative to the duration of the delusional periods. Delusional Disorder
E. The disturbance is not due to the direct physiological effects of a substance or GMC. Delusional Disorder
Delusions that another person, usually of higher status, is in love the the individual Delusional Disorder, Erotomanic Type
Delusions of inflated wirth, power, knowledge, identity, or special relationship to a deity or famous person Delusional Disorder, Grandiose Type
Delusions that the individual's sexual partner is unfaithful Delusional Disorder, Jealous Type
Delusions that the person or someone the person is close to, is being malevalently treated in some way Delusional Disorder, Persecutory Type
Delusions that the person has some physical defect or GMC Delusional Disorder, Somatic Type
Delusions characteristic of more than one of the above types but no one theme predominates Delusional Disorder, Mixed Type
Not able to specify or unknown Delusional Disorder, Unspecified Type
A. Presence of 1+: delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech, or grossly disorganized or catatonic behavior Brief Psychotic Disorder
B. Duration of an episode of the disturbance is at least 1 day but less than 1 month, with eventual full return to premorbid level of functioning. Brief Psychotic Disorder
C. The disturbance is not better accounted for by a Mood Disorder with Psychotic Features, Shizoaffective Disorder, or Schizophrenia and is not due to the direct physiological effects of a substance or GMC. Brief Psychotic Disorder
Symptoms occur shortly after and apparently in response to events that, singly or together, would be markedly stressful to almost anyone in similar circumstances in the person's culture. Brief Psychotic Disorder, With Marked Stressor(s)
Psychotic symptoms do NOT occur shortly after, or are not apparently in response to events that, singly or together, would be markedly stressful to almost anyone in similar circumstances in the person's culture Brief Psychotic Disorder, Without Marked Stressor(s)
Onset of brief symptoms occur within 4 weeks postpartum Brief Psychotic Disorder, With Postpartum Onset
A. A delusion develops in an individual in the context of a close relationship with another person who has an already-established delusion. Shared Psychotic Disorder
B. The delusion is similar in content to that of the person who already has the established delusion. Shared Psychotic Disorder
C. The disturbance is not better accounted for by another psychotic disorder or a mood disorder with psychotic features and is not due to the direct physiological effects of a substance or GMC Shared Psychotic Disorder
