Vocabulary from the second investigation of Structures of Life

when a seed begins to develop after being dormant germination
any living thing organism
when an organism gets bigger and more complex growth
a young plant that grows from a seed seedling
one of the first parts of a plant to grow; grows downward to hold the plant to the ground and get nutrients root
the part of the plan that growns upward and supports the plant stem
the (usually) flat green part of the plan that grows from the stem or up from the root leaf
Essential (must have) chemicals a healthy plant needs nutrients
growing plants in water and nutrients (no soil) hydroponics
the part of the plant where fruit and seeds develop flower
the stages a plant goes through from: seed to leaves to flower to fruit and back to seed life cycle
