watershed, wetland, ecosystem and other stuff

QuestionAnswer
Watershed The land that water flows across or through on its was to a stream, lake, wetland, or any type of body of water.
Wetland A transition zone between dry land and bodies of water.
Ecosystem Area that is made up of living and nonliving factors
Biotic Factors Living things such as plants and aminals
Abiotic Factors Nonliving things such as wind, water, light,
Topography The detailed description of the physical features of an area.
Sediment Matter that has settles to the bottom of the water
Erosion The process by which the surface of the earth is worn away by the actions of water, wind, waves, etc
Tributary A smaller stream that contributes its water flow into a larger stream, lake, river, etc.
Ground Water The Water beneath the surface of the ground
Estuary The part of the mouth or lower course of a river in which its current neets the seas tides and is subject to their effects. The water here is a mixture of fresh and salt water
Brakish Water Mixture of fresh and salt water
Percolation The process of water seeping into the ground and into a water table
Permeable Ability of something to allow liquids to run through it.
