Virus - non-cellular particle consistince of protein coated with genetic material -multiplies only within the cells of a living organism
How a virus infects a cell: 1. virus attaches to host cell 2.genetic material injected into host cell attacks nucleus 3.cell used to make new virus part 4.virus assembled 5. new viruses free to infect other cells
Antigen allow wbc's to recognize foreign invaders
macrophage -destroy/engulf invaders -eat them up
helper t-cells identify antigens of foreign invaders and signal response of B-cells and killer t-cells
B-cells produce antibodies
antibody attach to antigen of foreign material
Rheumatoid Arthiriis -attacks joints -WBC attack joints & bones of the hand
Inflammatory bowel disease -immune system attacks lining of digestive track -group of inflamatory conditions of the colon and small intestine
MS ???
Lupus immune system attack body/organs -symptoms vary widely per persom
