DefinitionTerm
The region that surrounds the equator and that extends from about 23.5 degrees north latitude to 23.5 degrees south latitude. Tropical Zone
The imaginary line of latitude at 23.5 degrees north. Tropic of Cancer
The imaginary line of latitude at 23.5 degrees south. Tropic of Capricorn.
A region with an average temperature range of 25 to 28 degrees celsius with an average yearly precipitation of 200 cm or more that is lush with vegitation and contains the greatest number of animal life. Tropical Rain Forest
A region with an average temperature range of 27 to 32 degrees celsius with an average yearly precipitation of 100 cm that is composed of tall grasses and scattered trees and contains a wide variety of animals. Tropical Savanna
A region with an average temperature range of 16 to 50 degrees celsius and an average yearly precipitation of less than 25 cm and that contains only specific plants and animals that have adapted to live in such extreme environments. Tropical Desert
A period of time in which a tropical savanna receives most of it's precipitation. Wet Season
