DEFINE IMMUNE SYSTEM Complete study of this system with an introduction, the fluid systems, innate immunity and adaptive or acquired immunity.
WHAT DOES IMMUNE SYSTEM DO? The main function of the immune system is defense against microbial infection.
INNATE IMMUNE SYSTEM The first set of functions is usually called "natural" or "innate" immunity since it does not have to be turned on & is always present.does not single out a microbe when defending body.
ADAPTIVE IMMUNE RESPONSE your immune system adapts to disease etc over time, is able to identify the disease/microbe to fight against it.
B & T CELLS The most abundant lymphocytes are: B lymphocytes (often simply called B cells) and T lymphocytes (likewise called T cells).
B CELLS produced in the bone marrow.
T CELLS T cells are also produced in the bone marrow but leave the bone marrow and mature in the thymus.( HENCE NAME)helper cells & killer cells
