Geology Vocabluary

QuestionAnswer
Geology The science that examines earth.
Physical Geology A major division of geology that examines the materials o earth and seeks to understand the process and forces beneath and upon earth.
Historical Geology A division of geology that studies earths origin.
Catastrophism The concept that earth was shaped by events in time.
Uniformitarianism That the shaping of earth over time still is important today.
Relative Dating Placing things in chronological order
law of Superposition The layering and sequence.
Principle of Faunal Succession The fossils are place in order by which they came from.
Hypothesis A reasonable question that is tested and answered.
Theory A well tested and widely accepted view that explains certain facts
