Compound light microscope a microscope that uses light to illuminate a specimen that is magnified by 2 lenses
Objective lenses the part of a compound light microscope that is located directly above the specimen and that magnifies the image of hte specimen
Nosepiece the part of a compound light microscope that holds the objective lenses in place above the specimen
Transmission electron microscope (TEM) a microscope that transmits a beam of electrons through a very thin slice of specimen and that can magnify 200,000 times
Eye piece (ocular lens) the part of a compound light microscope that magnifies an image an image, usually ten times, aka ocular lens
Stage a platform of a compound light microscope that supports the slide holding the specimen
Light source a light bulb that allows light for using the image it can be a mirror or incandescent
Magnification the increase of an objects apparent size by using lenses or mirrors
Resolution scanning elecetron in microscopes, the abilty to form images with fine detail
Microscope (SEM) a compound light microscope
Base unit one of the fundamental units of measurement that descrides length, mass, time, and other quantites and from which other units are derived
Metric System a decimal-based standard system of measurement that is used by scientists,; similar to Systeme Internationlae
