Chapter 2 vocab

QuestionAnswer
weight A measure of the gravitational force exerted on an object.
Volume Measure of the amount of space an object takes up
Density Ratio of a substance to the volume of the substance; often expressed as groups per cubic centimeter for solids and liquids and as grams per liter for gases.
Accuracy A description of how close a measurement is to the true value of the quantity measured.
Precision The exactness of a set of measurements towards each other.
Percentage Error Accepted value subtracted from the experimental value divided by the accepted value multiplied by 100.
Scientific Notation Way of writing numbers that accommodates values too large or small to be conveniently in standard decimal notation.
Significant Figures All numbers in a number known exactly plus one final digit that is often uncertain or estimated.
