Bone living tissue that makes up the body's skeleton.
Joint a place in the body where two bones come together.
Ligaments Strong connective tissue that holds bones together in movable joints.
Ribs long curved bones which form the rib cage.
Pelvis the ring of bones at the lower end of the trunk within which the pelvic organs lie in.
Femur Thigh bone; longest bone in the body.
Scapula two flat bones that together form the shoulder blades.
Humerus the upper arm bone between the shoulder and elbow.
Sternum Breastbone
Patella kneecap; The triangular movable bone that protects the knee joint.
Skull The bony structure of the head that encloses the brain and supports the jaws.
Red Marrow bone marrow of children and some adult bones that is required for the formation of red blood cells
Yellow Marrow bone marrow that is yellow with fat; found at the ends of long bones in adults
What are the five types of joints? Ball-and-socket, Hinge, Pivot, Gliding, and Immovable.
The four general categories of bones are: Long, short, flat and irregular.
Bones are composed of tissue that take one of two forms. They are: Compact (dense) and Spongy (cancellous).
Five functions of the skeleton include: 1- provide shape and support; 2- enables movement; 3- protects organs; 4- produces blood cells; 5- stores minerals and other materials until the body needs them.
Adult human body contain about how many bones? 206
Babies have (more/less) bones than adults. More-- as they grow, bones fuse together.
