Viruses often cause disease / Unable to replicate without a host cell, viruses are typically not considered living organisms (HIV, cold, flu)

cancer the uncontrolled growth of cells
Parasites An organism that grows, feeds, and is sheltered on or in a different organism while contributing nothing to the survival of its host
Contagions A disease that is, or may be transmitted by direct or indirect contact; a contagious disease(H1N1 Flu)
Mutagens An agent, such as a chemical, ultraviolet light, or a radioactive element, that can induce or increase the frequency of mutation in an organism
mercury Chemical mutagen that may cause birth defects (Minamata Disease)
ultraviolet light -causes skin cancer
Carriers A person or an animal that shows no symptoms of a disease, but harbors the infectious agent of that disease, and is capable of transmitting it to others genetically/ Typhoid
Vectors An organism, such as a mosquito or tick, that carries disease causing microorganisms from one host to another
tick vector that causes Lyme’s Disease tick
mosquito vector that causes Malaria
asthma a disease that can be genetic or environmental that causes difficulty breathing
allergy sensitivity to an irritant
vacine can prevent some diseases
