Releasers? Cues/Stimuli which bring about FAP
Fixed Action Patterns? Repeatable patterns and action which don't require learning (Rooted in Genetics).
What can a single gene determine? The modification or limitation of a single gene can impact behavior which can impact fitness.
Imprinting? Learning that takes place during some critical period of time which cannot take place after the period is over.
Oxytocin? This is a hormone which is released in birth and feeding in mammals and is also linked to imprinting because it tells the offspring before leaving the womb that it is time to imprint and then the first thing they see ins their mother.
How is behavior created? Behavior is created by a interaction betweens genes and the environment. The genes produce products which create a baseline behavior, however behavior is also influenced by environment.
Why do hotspots occur where they occur? Defendablity,Disease Prevention (Spots not inhabited by disease carrying insects), Resources, Water, Distance from Human Settlements
Conspecifics? Two or more organisms in the same species. Impacts habitat selection by the success of a conspecific in that area not their presence.
What determines the size of an Organism's territory? Mates, resources, competitors, predators, environmental predictability
Energetic cost? The cost associated with the energy required to carryout the behavior.
Risk cost? The cost associated within increased risk of injury or mortality
Opportunity Costs The cost attributed to not doing something that could have been beneficial.
