What features can we find on the moon? Maria, highlands, craters
What is a spring tide? A spring tide is a tide with the greatest difference between high and low tide that occurs when the sun and moon are aligned in a line with Earth.
What is a neap tide? A neap tide is a tide with least difference between low and high tide that occurs when the sun and the moon pull at right angles to each other
During what phase of the moon do they occur? A neap tide occurs at the 1st quarter and 3rd quarter moons. A spring tide occurs at the new and full moon.
What is a solstice? The two days of the year which the noon sun is directly overhead at either 23.5 degrees South or 23.5 degrees North
How many solstices are there? There are 2 solstices
When do the solstices occur? The day when the noon sun is overhead at 23.5 degrees South is the winter solstice in the Northern Hemisphere. It is the summer solstice in the Southern Hemisphere.
What is an equinox? The two days of the year on which neither hemisphere is tilted toward or away from the sun.
How many equinoxes are there? There are 2 equinoxes
When do the equinoxes occur? The vernal or spring equinox occurs around March 21st, and marks the beginning of spring in the Northern Hemisphere. The autumnal equinox occurs around Semptember 23
What causes day and night on Earth? The rotation of Earth on it's axis
What causes the seasons on Earth? Earth has seasons because its axis is tilted as it moves around the sun
