QuestionAnswer
work the results when a force causes an object to move.
machine a device that changes the amount of force applied to an object.
lever a simple machine.
fulcrum the fixed point on a lever.
effort arm the part of a lever on which a person or an other machine applies a force.
resistance arm the resistance or load on a lever.
pulley a wheel that has a groove in its edge.
wheel and axle a central machine that has a central pivot around which a wheel moves.
inclined plane a flat sloping surface.
wedge a simple machine composed of 1 or 2 inclined planes.
screw an inclined plane wrapped around a cylinder or cone.
compound machine a device made up of 2 or more simple machines.
efficiency the ratio of the workthat comes out of a machine to the work put in it.
