Work When a force causes an object to move in the direction of the applied force.
Machine any device that changes the amount of force applied to an object, the direction, or both.
Lever a simple machine having an arm that moves around a fixed point.
Fulcrum the fixed point; pivot point
Effort Arm the part of the lever on wich a person or another machine applies a force.
Resistance Arm the part of a lever that applies a force on an object.
Pulley a wheel that has a groove along its edge.
Wheel and Axle a simple machine in wich in wich either a wheel turns and axle or an axle turns a wheel around a central pivot point.
Inclined Plane any flat, sloping surface.
Wedge a simple machine made up of 1 or 2 inclined planes.
Screw an inclined plane wrapped around a cylinder or cone.
Compound Machine a device that is made up of 2 or more simple machines
Effieciency the ratio of the work that comes out of a machine to the work put into that machine.
