Moisture in the Atmosphere

QuestionAnswer
Relative Humidity Measure of the water vapor in the atmosphere (in percentage)
Dew Point Temperature The temperature at which the air is completely saturated with water vapor (Relative Humidity 100%); Condensation occurs below this temperature.
Dew Water that condenses on plant surfaces.
Frost Dew that freezes on plant surfaces.
Fog A cloud that forms on the ground.
Cloud Water vapor that condenses into liquid in the sky.
Precipitation Water that returns to Earth's surface as rain snow, sleet, hail, or freezing rain.
Cirrus clouds Thin, feathery, high altitude clouds made of ice crystals. Fair weather clouds that tell us that bad weather is coming.
Cumulus Puffy fair weather clouds
Cumulonimbus Thunderstorm clouds; vertically stacked clouds
Stratus Long, stretched out clouds
Stratonimbus Long layered clouds that bring steady rain.
Hail ice pellets, 5mm in diameter that grow in layers in cumulonimbus clouds
Sleet Precipitation that freezes as it falls.
Freezing Rain Precipitation that falls as a liquid and freezes AFTER it hits surfaces.
