Chromatid One of the two identical "sister" parts of a duplicated chromosome.
Centromere Area where the chromatids of a chromosome are attached.
Cyclin one of a family of closely related proteins that regulate the cell cycle in eukaryotic cells.
Homologous term used to refer to chromosomes that each have a corrisponding chromosome from the opposite-sex parent.
Diploid term used to refer a cell that contains both sets of homologous chromosome.
Haploid term used to refer to a cell that contains a single set of chromosomes & only contains a single set of genes.
Meiosis a certain number of cells in a chromosome that is cut in half. EX: Homosapien= 46ch. = 23ch.
Tetrad structures containg 4 chromatids that form during meiosis.
Crossing - Over a process when homologous chromosomes exchange portions of their chromatids during meiosis.
