All about digestion

What is the epiglotis? flap of tissue that seals of your windpipe
What lines the esophagus? Mucus
What is smooth muscle? Involuntary waves of muscle contractions that keep food moving in one direction through the digestive system
What connects the mouth to the stomach? The esophagus
What is mechanical digestion? Process of breaking down food into small nutrient molecules
What is an enzyme? A protein that speeds up chemical reactions in the body
What is absorbtion? Involves the movement of nutrients through the wall of your digestive system into your blood
What are the 3 funtions of digestion? The food gets broken down into molecules, Absorbs the food molecules into the blood, and eliminates waste from the body
