Phlebotomy (a.k.a venipuncture) can be summarized as the: Incision or cut in the vein.
Main purpose of phlebotomy is: To obtain Blood for diagnostic testing and to remove blood for transfusion.
Assembling your equipment you will need: Gloves, tourniquet, tubes, gauze, needle adapter, antiseptic pads,
Hemoconcentration To many blood elements in plasma.
Hemolysis Destruction of Red Blood Cells
Petechia Red spots on the skin.
Best veins In the antecubital fossa (inside of elbow)
Reflux backflow
Hematoma Swollen, Red area under skin
Applying pressure For about 2 minutes.
Red (Glass Tube)Tests Chemistry, Serology, blood bank
Additives (Glass Tube) Tests - RED None
Speciman (Glass tube) - RED Serum
Inversion Number (RED) glass tube 0 (Must sit 30 mins. to clot: Serum is seperated by centrifuge after clotting.
