assists on elevating mandible temporalis
work together to protract the jaw and move it from side to side medial and lateral pterygoids
compresses cheeks against teeth when holding food in mouth buccinator
attaches tongue to styloid process; pulls tongue backward and upward styloglossus
attaches tongue to hyoid bone; pulls tongue backwards and downwards hyoglossus
attaches tongue to the jaw; sticks the tongue out genioglossus
