cell wall Rigid structure that protects the cell and gives its shape.

vacuole A sac that stores water, food, waste and other material.
bacteria cells Type of cells that do not contain a nucleus.
lysosome Small, round structures found in animal cells that contain chemicals to break down food particles.
mitochondrion Rod-shaped structures that produce most of the energy for the cell.
endoplasmic reticulum Passageways that carry proteins and other materials from one part of the cell to another.
ribosome Small grainlike bodies that produce proteins.
golgi body Receive proteins and other materials, package them and distribute them to other parts of the cell.
