What term describes a cell that is created by basophils that are designed to kill any cells that have a certain antigen on them? Antibody
If you are a person with type A blood, your basophils produce antibodies against what blood? Type B
If you are a person with type B blood, your basophils produce antibodies against what blood? Type A
If you are a blood type AB person, what antigens do your blood cells have? A and B antigens
If you are a blood type AB person, what antibodies do your basophils produce? None (if it produced A or B, they would attack all of your blood cells, that is BAD.)
If you are a blood type O person, what antigens do you have on your blood cells? None
If you are a blood type O person, what antibodies do your basophils produce? both A and B because neither of them is natural to your body
If you give someone a blood type that is NOT compatible with their blood, what happens agglutination
What term describes the process of blood clumping together because the antibody for that blood is present? agglutination
What determines your blood type? genetics
ABO blood type are examples of which type of genetic cross? co dominance
What are the 4 types of blood? A, B, AB and O phenotypes
What are the “sprinkles” actually representing? antigens
What are the parts of the blood that fight against each antigen type? antibody
What blood type is the “universal donor”? O because it is RBCs have no antigens on its membrane to elicit an immune response
What blood type is the “universal recipient”? AB because their blood has no antbodies
What does Rh stand for? rhesus monkey
What does it mean to be Rh+? you have Rh antigen on the membrane
What does it mean to be Rh-? you have no Rh antigens, so you will react to the presence of Rh antigens
If a man is Rh+ and woman is Rh-, and theuy conceive a child, can the child be Rh+? yes
Will moms immune system react to the babies Rh+ blood? No they are not explosed until childbirth
If mom conceives a second Rh+ baby later on, what will happen? her antibodies will attack the fetus blood because moms blood was previously exposed to the Rh+ blood
