Anatomy Demers

Skeletal system made of bones-- supports, protects, produces blood cells (organs--- any of the bones ex. femur)
Muscular system works with the bones to move the body (organs--- all of the muscles ex. biceps, triceps)
Nervous system group of organs (brain, spinal cord) that takes in information from the surroundings and responds to them
Lymphatic/Immune System works to filter out unwanted materials especially viruses and bacteria (organs--- lymph nodes, spleen, tonsils)
Excretory/Urinary system system that removes wastes in the form of urine (organs-- kidneys)
Reproductive System system that results in the production of sex cells (for the creating of offspring) (organs--- testes, ovaries, uterus, penis, vagina)
Circulatory System system that pumps the blood through the body to carry food and oxygen to the cells (organs--- heart, arteries, veins)
Integumentary system system that includes the skin, hair and nails. Helps protect our body.
Respiratory system system that brings oxygen into the body and releases carbon dioxide from our body (organs--- nose, mouth, trachea, bronchi, lungs)
Digestive system system that breaks down food and absorbs the nutrients into the body to be used by the cells (organs-- mouth, esophagus, stomach, intestines)
Endocrine system system that releases hormones in the body, such as testosterone, estrogen, adrenaline etc. (organs include testes, ovaries, adrenal gland, pituitary gland)
Red Blood Cells cells found in the blood that carry oxygen. (they are made in the bone marrow)
White Blood Cells cells found in the blood that help fight off disease (they are made in the bone marrow)
Platelets found in the blood they help clot blood (stop the bleeding when you get injured)
Anatomy The study of the physical structures of living things.
Physiology The study of how the structures of a living thing work.
Homeostasis The idea that the body is kept in balance with all body systems working together smoothly. The nervous system helps maintain homeostasis.
