What is the definition of the word Day? The Time required for the earth to rotate once on its axis.
What is the definition of the word equinox? The moment when the sun appears to cross the celestial equator.
What is the definition of the word Solstice? The point at which the sun is as far north or as far south of the equator as possible.
How long does it take earth to rotate once on its axis? 23 hours and 56 minutes.
What is Earths axis? An imaginary line that runs through earths center from the north pole to the south pole.
Explain the cause of daylight and night. The rotation of earth on its axis.
What are seasons mainly caused by? The 23.5 degree tilt of Earth's axis.
Winter in the northern hemisphere is caused by what? The tilt of the northern hemisphere away from the sun.
An area has fewer daylight hours in what season? Winter.
An area has more daylight hours in what season? Summer.
Summer in the Northern hemisphere is caused by what? The tilt of the northern hemisphere toward the sun.
What affects the amount of sunlight that an area receives? The Earth's tilt and shape.
What causes the seasons yearly cycle? Earth's tilt and revolution around the sun.
What are equinoxes and solstices caused by? Earths tilt and earths revolution around the sun.
How does latitude affect the amount of seasonal change that an area experiences? By the amount of change in the areas position in relation to the sun.
