Metamorphic A type of rock formed when igneous,sedimentary or even other metamorphic rocks are subjected to extreme heat or pressure deep below the earths surface

Mohs scale of hardness A scale that ranks the hardness of minerals relative to the hardness of other minerals.
Monoclinic A crystal characterized by three unequal axes withone oblique intersection
Nonmetallic Luster Describes a mineral that is usually light colored and whose surface appears glassy, greasy,brilliant, silky, pearly. or dull
Orthohombic A crystal form charecterized by three unequal axes right angeled to each other
petrifacation The process of petrifying or becominga fossil(also known as petrafication)
piezoeletric A typeof electricity generated by applying pressure to a crystalline substance such as quartz

Rock A naturally occuring inorganic solid usually compressed with a mixture of different minerals and, materials

Silicon One of the most ebundunant elements on earth;its electricalproperties are able to be used in electric devices.
Streak The color of the fine powder of a mineral obtained by scratching or rubbing the piece on a unglazed ceramic tile.
Tetragonal A crystal form characterized by three axes at right angles,of which only twolateral angles are equal.
Triclinic A crystal form characterized by three unequal axes intersected at oblique angles.
Weathering The discoloration or break down of rocks and minerals due to the action of water the atmoshere, and organisms.
