What is a constellation? a number of stars that appear to form a pattern

What is absolute magnitude? the actual brightness of a star

What is a nebula? an enormous cloud of gas and dust in space
How does a star begin its life? as a nebula
Describe the main-sequence stars. Nuclear reactions occur when hydrogen and helium fuses together
In what stage does a star spend most of its life? as a Main-Sequence Star
What is a giant or supergiant? a star that has used up its hydrogen and has expanded
What is a planetary nebula? gravity is overcome and the expanding gas is spread out into space
What type of stars become a red giant? lower-mass stars
What type of stars become a supergiant? higher-mass stars
What is a supernova? an unstable supergiant that has exploded
What is a pulsar? a neutron star that is blinking
How is a black hole formed? a massive star collapses
The star Rigel is closer to the Earth than Sirius. It seems to be brighter than Sirius. Explain its magnitude. the magnitude is apparent because it appears to be brighter
The star Sirius is actually brighter than Rigel but doesn't appear so in the sky. Describe the magnitude of Sirius. the magnitude is absolute because it really is brighter in spite of the futher distance from the Earth
What is the outermost part of the sun? corona
What is the second layer of the sun? chromosphere
What is the third layer of the sun? photosphere
What is the interior layer of the sun called? core
What layer of the sun is the source of all the sun's energy? core
What is the sun made out of? 92% hydrogen and is slowly being changed into helium
