| plateau | large, nearly level area of land that is lifted or elevated above the surrounding area |
| limestone | mostly smooth rocks, with fine-grain texture that contain calcite (and react to hydrochloric acid by fizzing to release carbon dioxide) |
| sandstone | rocks with sandy, rough texture that do NOT react to hydrochloric acid |
