Intro Criminal law

State of Mind the prohibited act must be done intentionally, knowingly, or willingly; carelessness is not considered a guilty state of mind
Motive Reason why the act is performed
Strict Liability does not require a quilty state of mind, the act itself is criminal
Elements the conditions that make an act unlawful
Felony a serious criminal offense punishable by a prison sentence of more than one year
Misdemeanor any crime for which the potential penalty is imprisonment for less than one year
Principal the person who committs a crime
Accomplice someone who helps another person commit a crime
Accessory before the Fact one who encourages, oders, or helps plan a crime
Accessory after the Fact Someone who, knowing a crime has been committed, helps conceal the crime or the criminal
