| Motive | Reason why the act is performed |
| Strict Liability | does not require a quilty state of mind, the act itself is criminal |
| Elements | the conditions that make an act unlawful |
| Felony | a serious criminal offense punishable by a prison sentence of more than one year |
| Misdemeanor | any crime for which the potential penalty is imprisonment for less than one year |
| Principal | the person who committs a crime |
| Accomplice | someone who helps another person commit a crime |
| Accessory before the Fact | one who encourages, oders, or helps plan a crime |
| Accessory after the Fact | Someone who, knowing a crime has been committed, helps conceal the crime or the criminal |
