QuestionAnswer
Scientific model an ideal that allows us to create explanations of how something may work. They can be actual physical models or mental models.
Slinky spring tool used to model waves
Average speed total distance divided by total time taken (v=d/t)
Adaptation a trait or behavior that helps an organism (living thing) survive and reproduce.
Variations how organisms of similar species differ from each other in their traits
Natural selection process that explains adaptation and survival. It shows how species can change over time in order to survive.
Petrified fossil fossil that forms when minerals soak into the buried remains of an organism, the minerals replace the remains and change them into rock.
Preserved fossil fossil that forms when organisms, or parts of organisms are prevented from decaying by being trapped in rock, ice, tar or amber.
Geologic features features on the Earth such as mountains, rivers, tributary, lakes, farmland, forests, etc.
Contour lines – lines on a map that indicate geologic features on a map.
