Light year used to measure distances in space; equal to the distance light travels in one year
Big Bang Theory states that the universe began as a tiny, hot, dense, point, that exploded and has been expanding ever since
Oscillating Theory states that the universe goes through cycles of expansion and contraction(or collapsing)
Steady State Theory states that the universe has no beginning and no end and remains the same throughout time
