| Lava | Molten rock flowing onto earth's surface |
| Lithosphere | Rigid layer of earth about 100km think made of the crust and a part of the upper mantle |
| Magntiude | A measure of the energy released by an earthquake |
| Rift | Long crack fissue or thought that forms btw tectonic plate moving apart at plate boundaires. |
| Seismic Safe | describes the ability of structure to stand up aganist the vibration caused by an earthquake |
| Seismic waves | Earthquake waves, including primary waves, secondary waves, and surface waves. |
