Life span How long an organism is expected to live
Adaptation A trait that helps and organism survive
Mimicry When one organism imitates the traits of another.
Heredity The passing of traits from parent to offspring
metamorphosis A process of changes in form during an animal's development.
Life Cycle The stages of growth and change of an organism's life.
Fertilization The joining of a female cell, the egg and a male cell, the sperm to produce a fertilized egg.
Embryo A developing organism that results from fertilization
Budding a form of reproduction in simple invertebrates where a bud forms on the adult's body and slowly develops into a new organism before breaking off.
Cloning When a whole animal develops from just a part of the original animal
Instinct A pattern of behavior that reqauires no thining because it is programmed into an animals's brain. It is a compkicated interited behavior
Inherited A behavior or trait that is inborn, not learned
Camouflage An adaptation by which an animal can hide by blending in with its surroundings
Stages of metamorphosis 1. egg stage 2. larva stage 3. pupa stage 4. adult stage
Behaviors These are not inborn but are learned
Order of food digestion mouth - esophagus - stomach - small intestine - large intestine - waste
