Minerals

QuestionAnswer
What is a mineral? A naturally formed, orgainic solid with a crystalline structure.
What is a compound? A substance made up of two or more elements connected by a chemical bond.
What is an element? A substance that cannot be broken.
What is a crystal? A solid whose atoms, ions, or molecules are arranged in a definite pattern.
What are non-silicate minerals? A mineral that does not contain compounds of silicon and oxygen.
What are silicate minerals? A mineral that contains a combination of silicon, oxygen, and one or more metals.
Name two places a mineral can from. Evapporating Salt water, metamorphic rocks, Limestons, hot water solutions, pegamites, plutons.
What is ore? a natural material that is highly profitable.
What is reclamation? The process of reeturning land to its orginal consition after mining is complete.
What is density? How much matter is in a given amount of space
