Transport Vocabulary

Absorption the process where materials are brought into cells
Circulation the process where materials travel around an organism

Hemoglobin an iron containing pigment which carries oxygen in your blood
Platelets small pieces of red blood cells which help blood to clot
Valve prevents blood from flowing backwards in your heart and veins
Arteries largest of the blood vessels, they carry blood away from the heart
Veins vessels that carry blood to the heart
Capillaries smallest of the vessels, they carry blood to all your cells
Stroke a blood clot to the brain
Arterosclerosis advanced disease caused by buildup of fatty deposits on the artery walls
