Body Cavities and what are in them

Abdominal Cavity - abdominal and pelvic cavity are parts of this cavity. Abdominal cavity contains the stomach, small intestine, liver, gullblader, pancreas, spleen, and most of the large intestines
Anterior/Ventral - the front parts of the body
Body Cavities - spaces within the body that contain vital organs
Body Planes - imaginary lines drawn through the body
Buccal Cavity - mouth - teeth and tounge
Caudal Cavity - body parts located near the sacral region of the spinal collumn
Dorsal Cavity - one long continuous cavity located on the back of the body and contains cranial and spinal cavity
Cranial Cavity - contains the brain
Spinal Cavity - contains the spinal cord
Posterier - body parts located on the back of the body
Frontal/Coronal plane - plane that divides the body into a front and back half
Inferior - body parts below other parts
Superior - body parts above other parts
Lateral - body parts away from the midline
Medial - body parts close to the midline
Midsigattial/Median plane - divides the body into the left and right halves
Nasal Cavity - contains the nose structures
Orbital Cavity - contains the eyes
Proximal - body parts close to other body parts
Thoracic Cavity - conatins the esophogus, trachea, bronchi, lungs, heart, and large blood vessels
Transverse plane - horizantal plane that divides the body into a top and bottom half
