| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Stimulus | Any change or signal in the environment that can make an organism react |
| Response | What your body does in reaction to a stimulus |
| Neurons | The cell that carry information through your nervous system |
| Nerve Impulse | The message that a neuron carries |
| Dendrites | Carries impulse toward the neuron's cell body |
| Axon | Carries impulse away from the call body |
| Nerve | A bundle of nerve fibers |
| Sensory Neuron | Picks up stimuli from internal or external environment and converts each stimulus into a nerve impules |
| Interneuron | A neuron that carries nerve impulse from one neuron to another |
| Motor Neuron | Sends an impulse to a muscule or gland and the muscule or gland react in a response |
| Synapse | The junction where one neuron can transfer inpulse to another structure |
| Central Nervous System | consist the brain and the spinal cord |
| peripheral Nervous System | Includes all the nerves located outside of the central nervous system |
| Brain | Located in the skull, is the part of the central nervous system that controls most functions in the body |
| Spinal Cord | The thick column of nervous tissue that links the brain to most of the nerves in the peripheral nervous system |
| Cerebrum | Interprets input from the sense, controls movement, and carries out complex mental processes such as learning and remebering |
| Cerebellum | Coordinates the actions of your muscules and helps you keep balance. |
| Brain Stem | Lies between the cerebellum and spinal cord, controls your body's involuntary actions-those that occur atuomatically |
| Somatic Nervous System | The nevers or the somatic nervous system control voluntary actions such as using a fork or tying your shoe |
| Autonomic Nervous System | In contrast nerves of the autonomic nervous system control involuntary action |
| Reflex | A response that happen automatically |
| Concussion | Bruise like injury in the brain |
| Spinal Cord | The thick column of nervous tissue that links the brain to most of the nerves in the peripheral nervous system |
