Biome List

Biome A major regional community characterized by the forms of plant life and the climate ; example: grassland, desert, taiga
Ecosystem An area where living organisms interact with other living and nonliving things in the environment
Competition The struggle between two organisms to obtain the same resources in an ecosystem
Habitat The environment in which an animal or plant lives
Resource Any material that an organism needs for survival and obtains from its habitat
Species A group of organisms that share similar characteristics
Predator An animal that hunts or eats other animals
Prey An animal that is hunted or eaten by other animals
Photosynthesis A process in plants that uses sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to make
Respiration The process by which most living things take in oxygen and get rid of carbon dioxide
